Since
graduating from Seton Hall University and earning a Master's Degree in
Television and Film from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, Kevin
McLaughlin has worked in commercials, broadcast, documentary, cable
network, corporate, and educational television. His credits include
everything from elementary school science programs to America’s
Most Wanted. He continues to be involved in a wide variety of
productions throughout New York and New Jersey.
In the summer of ‘98, Kevin was a key member of
the New York production team shooting The Accountant, the
feature directing debut by L.A. screenwriter Glen Gers (Cybil, Jeff
Foxworthy) and Sundance-veteran producer Spencer Clarke (Blue
Skies are a Lie.)
McLaughlin formed Renaissance Productions in
1988. An accomplished Avid editor, Kevin has written, produced, and
directed over 200 programs, including 2 winners of the Gold Award from the
International Television Association, and a Silver Medal winner at the
1995 INTERCOM in Chicago. He is the author of the feature screenplays Dreaming
Out Loud and Pinch Me!
A former track star and member of a relay team that was ranked in the
top 5 nationally, McLaughlin is still a devotee of rapid forward
motion. Though no longer competing, he retains the work ethic,
intensity, and dedication of a champion athlete.
As a writer, Kevin is known for spinning funny,
heartwarming tales featuring characters who seem remarkably like real
people. He's currently working on a "Stand By Me" type of story
called The Finger.
On his first film, the self-financed short Mosquito
Man, McLaughlin served as writer, producer, director, and editor.
The film played a number of festivals, and was an audience favorite at New
York's Independent Feature Film Market.
